The Level 3 Certificate in Diabetes Awareness training course is designed for those working in the healthcare sector who wish to increase their awareness of diabetes in order to support their service users. However, the Certificate in Diabetes Awareness training course will also be of interest to anyone with diabetes, or those with friends/relatives with diabetes, who wish to know more about the condition.
Over two million people in England currently have diabetes with numbers set to rise as obesity levels increase. This timely training programme accredited at Level 3 outlines the principles of diabetes and also discusses how to manage the condition, through diet, exercise and attitude. The distance learning training course also looks at social issues around diabetes (such as job discrimination) and explores prevention, complications and care. The Level 3 Certificate in Diabetes Awareness training course comprises four units:
- Unit 01: Explore the principles of diabetes
- Unit 02: Explore the management of diabetes
- Unit 03: Prevention, complications and care of diabetes
- Unit 04: Explore cardiovascular care for people with diabetes
Course delivery and assessment
Health and social care staff and learners from other sectors will all be provided with the course materials for the programme and will be required to work through a series of tasks, activities and a written assignment that covers all learning outcomes to be successfully awarded the Certificate in Diabetes Awareness training course – Level 3.
This diabetes distance learning training programme will enable candidates to provide safe care and management to people living with diabetes in a wide range of settings such as care homes, nursing homes or within the community. Having successfully achieved this diabetes qualification at Level 3, the learner may wish to progress on to further qualifications such as courses in health and social care, including NVQs and RQF (QCF) Diplomas.
