The Level 2 Award in Nutrition and Health (RQF (QCF)) distance learning training course is ideal for health and social care workers who are interested in improving their understanding of nutrition and healthy eating. It will be particularly useful to those who work in an environment where an understanding of nutrition and health is relevant, such as food planning, preparation, care homes and other settings.

Course Outline

The RQF (QCF) Level 2 Award in Nutrition and Health training course has been developed in response to rising levels of malnutrition in both adults and children. This course supports current government initiatives around improving health. Health and social care staff who successfully complete the programme will develop their understanding of the principles of healthy eating and the role of food in maintaining health. The course will assist staff to help service users to make informed decisions about their diets and maintain a healthy diet throughout their life. Upon successful completion and to recognise their achievements learners are awarded a RQF (QCF) nationally recognised qualification in Nutrition and Health at Level 2.

Course Content

The Nutrition and Health training course comprises of three mandatory units all delivered by distance learning:

  • Unit 01: Explore principles of healthy eating (Credit value: 5) (K/601/2530)
  • Unit 02: Consider nutritional needs of a variety of individuals (Credit value: 4) (J/601/2535)
  • Unit 03: Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet (Credit value: 3) (M/601/2545)

Each unit contains assessments and activities designed to cover the specific learning outcomes.

Course delivery and assessment
