Care Home Assistant Practitioner (CHAPs) Training

Care Home Assistant Practitioner (CHAPs) Training

Full-time care is a vital service within the wider healthcare industry. Whether it is via a care home, a facility designed around providing full-time care while also giving residents a way to live a fulfilling life, or a home care service that provides everything an individual needs in the comfort of their own home, care is something many people rely on.

Specialist Care Home Assistant Practitioner Training for Care Home Organisations

As a result, care providers are under a lot of pressure to optimise. Their care professionals will often work with multiple individuals throughout the day, all with their own unique needs and preferences. This, on top of their other clinical tasks, leaves them stretched thin and unable to provide the best care possible.

To combat this, care providers are introducing Care Home Assistant Practitioner roles (CHAPs). These are assistants for the more experienced healthcare professionals, supporting them by completing clinical tasks, administering medication, and fulfilling individuals’ care needs.

Our CHAPs Training Course

This course follows a similar format to our Complex Care, Hospice Care Practitioner, and Healthcare Assistant Practitioner programmes.

But like those parallel courses, our CHAPs course is tailored to suit your organisation’s needs. All our courses are taught by practicing healthcare professionals, so the information that delegates receive will always be backed up by the latest insights.

We’ll also provide resources that are the most relevant to you, in this case depending on the type of care home or care facility you operate. If, for example, you run a dementia care home, we’ll assign more time and relevant information surrounding dementia care.
During this course, delegates will:

tick
Be interviewed for the role by Care Provider
tick
Be assigned a local mentor (NMC Registered Nurse)
tick
Be assigned an academic tutor (Guardian Angels Training)
tick
Attend all virtual learning sessions
tick
Attend all practical face-to-face OSCE sessions
tick

Upon completion of this programme, including all virtual and face to face OSCE sessions, individuals will be assessed to ensure that they are able to fulfil the duties of their new role competently and safely.

CHAPs Training Course Assessment and Certification

This course uses a few methods of assessment. This includes a portfolio of evidence, workplace supervisory assessments, reflective accounts, and service user feedback.

This, on top of the required attendance for all learning sessions, ensures that everything required for optimal performance as a Care Home Assistant Practitioner is covered in detail. Like with any healthcare related course, any lack of confidence or ability can affect the health of service users, which is why we put so much emphasis on both theoretical and practical learning.

We will provide the necessary competency proformas required to ensure safe and evidenced-based clinical practice following completion of our training courses. This will then allow the registered provider to ensure mandatory competency assessments are completed within the workplace by a nominated mentor/supervisor.

We can also assist with competency assessments, sending one of our registered nurse trainers to complete it for you.

If your organisation needs to optimise its workforce, introducing CHAPs roles is the best way to do so. But an underqualified or inexperienced CHAP can cause more harm than good and can take even more time out of your care professionals’ busy schedules.

With our CHAPs training course, delegates will leave with the confidence to complete all clinical tasks perfectly. This will increase the overall level of care you provide, and free up your care professionals to do the same.

Immunisation And Vaccination Training

Vaccination and immunisation training is essential in helping to prevent disease. Vaccinations allow people to build up immunisation to certain diseases such as the flu. They do this by training the immune system to identify and combat specific pathogens using antibodies.
