Infection control and prevention is relevant to numerous sectors including food preparation and health and social care and medical services, and is of major concern in hospitals and other health care settings. It is the responsibility of everyone who works in, or visits, such environments to ensure that the spread of infection is avoided.
The Level 2 Award in the Prevention and Control of Infection training course is designed to raise awareness of infection control legislation and policies. During this infection control training course learners will look at the methods of cleaning and waste disposal that help prevent the spread of infection, along with the personal protective equipment they should use for their own safety, thus ensuring the prevention and control of infections. This knowledge will be underpinned by an increased understanding of the causes of infections, the conditions in which infections thrive and the ways that infections can be spread within health and social care settings.
The distance learning training course consists of three mandatory units that allow the learners to obtain the Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention and Control:
Candidates who enrol on this infection control training course will be provided with all the course materials this will allow health and social care staff to be awarded with this nationally recognised Level 2 qualification in Infection Prevention and Control. The Infection Control training course is internally assessed with health and social care staff producing a portfolio of work that covers all learning outcomes required for successfully completion of the Level 2 Award in the Prevention and Control of Infection (NCFE).
On successful completion of this infection control training course, health and social care staff may wish to progress on to Level 2 and 3 qualifications in the areas of health and/or social care. Alternatively they may wish to progress onto the full RQF (QCF) qualification in Infection Control.
