Healthcare Assistant Practitioner Training
Our course has been designed to help care providers in training assistant practitioners to ease the workload of registered practitioners and provide patients and service users with exceptional care.
A tracheostomy is a medical procedure used to allow air to enter the lungs. They are carried out by creating an opening in the neck in which a tube can be entered into the patient’s windpipe. Tracheostomies are predominantly used for conditions in which a ventilator is required, throat cancer, trauma that obstructs breathing and sometimes in preparation for surgery. Whether the tracheostomy is permanent or temporary depends on the condition.
Tracheostomy care is therefore an essential clinical skill for nurses and support staff looking after patients with a tracheostomy. Good tracheostomy care training is of huge importance to the wellbeing of patients and service users. Our tracheostomy training encompasses a range of topics from care guidelines, types of tracheostomy tubes, care considerations and more.
The Tracheostomy Training course is delivered by expert trainers with extensive experience in the area. We offer training and development that is evidenced based, informative and practical ensuring that patients, service users, staff members and the care provider all benefit from best practice. We are also able to offer fully bespoke tracheostomy courses, specific to the training needs of your organisation. Designed to ensure that health care and support workers have the knowledge, understanding and clinical skill to confidently, safely and competently perform Tracheostomy Care to patients and service users, you can be confident that your staff’s knowledge is in line with current best practice.
We are also able to provide the necessary competency proformas required to ensure safe and evidenced-based clinical practice following completion of the Tracheostomy Care Training course. This will then allow the Registered Provider to ensure mandatory competency assessments are completed within the workplace by a nominated mentor/supervisor.
If you need further advice regarding competency assessments or if you would like one of our Registered Nurse Trainers to provide onsite competency assessments then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
