Anaphylaxis and Asthma First Aid Training

Statistics show that allergies are on the rise, affecting around 1 in 3 people in the UK – approximately half of which are children. In addition to this, 1 in 11 children in the UK are currently being treated for asthma.

Primarily aimed at schools and children’s services where there’s a duty of care, our combined anaphylaxis training and asthma first aid course will teach you how to recognise, prevent and treat your pupils or staff in the event of a severe allergic reaction or asthma attack.

Both anaphylaxis and asthma can be fatal without immediate medical assistance and intervention, so it’s vital that your staff are trained to administer treatment efficiently and effectively.

Due to changes in legislation, schools are now allowed to keep anaphylaxis auto injectors (AAIs) and emergency asthma inhalers on their premises – but in order to use them correctly, you need to understand the signs of an attack and how to use these essential medical treatments.

Patient care including the administration of an auto-injector of adrenaline

Alongside your anaphylaxis training, you’ll also undergo an asthma first aid course, which includes:

Duration of Asthma First Aid Training Course

Our externally accredited Immediate Management of Anaphylaxis and Asthma training course is completed in one day, over a 6 hour session, at a time and location that suits you.

Assessment and Certification

In order to meet the required standards for your anaphylaxis and asthma training, participants will be assessed throughout the duration of the course by the qualified tutor.

As part of the assessment process, delegates will contribute to a practical scenario, demonstrating their ability to manage a child having an asthma attack and anaphylactic reaction.

Upon successful completion of the anaphylaxis training and asthma first aid course, you’ll receive a certificate to verify your competency which will remain valid for three years from issue.
