Course Description

This comprehensive three day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all delegates to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. This 3 day course will give the delegates a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

It is a legal requirement that employers provide a safe and healthy environment for their employees. If an assessment of your First Aid needs highlights the requirement for qualified First Aiders, then this course will provide you with suitable, highly trained personnel.

Duration

A minimum of 18 hours, ideally, the course should be run over three consecutive days, but we have the flexibility to accommodate your specific needs.

Syllabus

A range of subjects is covered including:

  • Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Resuscitation
  • Choking
  • Shock (including Anaphylaxis)
  • Heart attacks
  • Stroke
  • Control of bleeding
  • Bandaging
  • Chest, Head & Eye injuries
  • Fractures, Strains & Sprains
  • Asthma
  • Diabetes
  • Epilepsy
  • Poisoning
  • Burns

Assessment & Certification

The assessments consist of a multiple choice question paper and a practical assessment. Practical Assessments will be conducted and a delegate will only receive a pass, if the delegates demonstrate the requisite understanding and competencies. Subject to the assessment, delegates will be issued with a Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work RQF Certificate approved by the HSE. This qualification is valid for three years, and can be renewed by attending one of our suitable two day requalification course.
